The recently retired Brazilian tennis player Thomaz Bellucci believes that Novak Djokovic is the best tennis player among the Big Three.
“In my opinion, Djokovic is the best, but personally it was the hardest against Nadal, because of my style of play,” Bellucci said.
He illustrates his thinking by recalling the match with Djokovic in Rome in 2016 when he won the first set 6:0 and then smoothly lost the next two, 6:2, 6:2.
“I remember that I was really good in the warm-up and that I knew exactly what I had to do, but knowing is one thing, putting it into practice is another. I felt really good, and sometimes when I feel like that, the rival seems to start playing worse. However, this is not the case with the best, Novak pulled an ace up his sleeve, and started doing some other things on the court. “He played better, and I couldn’t hold him,” Bellucci added.
The Brazilian achieved the best ranking in his career as a very young player, back in 2010 when, at the age of 23, he was the 21st tennis player in the world.
That season, he played in the round of 16 at a Grand Slam for the first and only time in his career. Unfortunately, he “ran into” Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros.
