Roger Federer will make a return to the US Open later this year after organisers announced the Swiss great will take part in a special exhibition event in New York.
The event, titled “Roger Federer: An Icon Returns to New York”, is scheduled for 25 August and will mark the 20-time Grand Slam champion’s first appearance at the tournament since 2019.
Federer enjoyed some of the greatest moments of his career at Flushing Meadows, winning five consecutive US Open titles between 2004 and 2008.
The 44-year-old retired from professional tennis in 2022 after a glittering 24-year career that yielded 20 Grand Slam singles titles and 103 tour-level trophies. He brought the curtain down on his career at the Laver Cup in London.
