Djokovic was annoyed by the question: No I didn't say that

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic held a media conference after reaching the quarterfinals of Roland Garros.

He defeated Juan Pablo Varillas 6:3, 6:2, 6:2.

“I’m proud. My thoughts are focused on the next match, Khachanov. One of the goals is to stay on course mentally. I felt good, I played well. We will turn to the next match”, Djokovic said.

He was also asked about the audience with whom he had a turbulent relationship in previous rounds.

“I didn’t say the audience was disrespectful last time. Most are good, they provide support, but there are individuals who cause problems. I didn’t say that the audience the global showed disrespect. She also supported me against Varillas, I felt good, I thanked them during the interview on the field”.

He also talked about Nadal:

“It was his birthday, he announced that he had an operation. I have only had one operation in my career, an elbow, and I know how difficult it is to come back. Sometimes it’s necessary, but it’s something you don’t want. It happened more often with him, I don’t know how serious the injury is, if he was on the operating table it means that there was no other solution. I hope he recovers quickly and we will see him next season. He is important for tennis, one of the biggest legends, we want to see him. He announced the last season of his career.”

He also commented on the next rival – Karen Khachanov.

“Khachanov and I played a lot of times. We played here a couple of years ago. I know his game quite well. It is consistent, there are no ups and downs. You know how he’s going to play. I understand his game. Of course, it’s the Grand Slam quarterfinals, the motivation is there. He won’t have much to lose. He will probably try to play the match of his life. He is one of the few who in the last three GS entered the second week of the tournament. He had a tough match with Sone, but he overcame that. He is mentally stable. He will not be surprised by this great opportunity. I expect a tough match and I hope that I will be at the desired level”, concluded Novak.
