British tennis player Andy Murray said that he hopes to recover by the beginning of Wimbledon, although he is aware that there is only a week left until the start of the tournament in London.
Murray had to withdraw from the tournament in Queens last week due to an abdominal injury.
– It is positive that I can train. But there are some punches I couldn’t practice. It disrupts my preparation. The injury is calming down, but it is still not perfect – said the two-time Wimbledon winner.
After the tournament in Stuttgart, Murray announced that he was suffering from a stomach injury and was retiring from Queens, in order to better prepare for Wimbledon.
– Last year, I appeared at Wimbledon without training and reached the third round. I trained well, and I feel good physically overall. The only thing that frustrates me is this minor abdominal injury – said Murray.
Murray started the year as the 134th player in the world, and is currently on the 51st place on the ATP list.
The former world number one tennis player has had a lot of problems with injuries in the past few years, especially with the hip, which he had to operate on several times. At the last operation in 2019, a metal prosthesis was installed to stop the pain.
