Andreeva advances comfortably into French Open last 16

Mirra Andreeva advanced to the fourth round of the French Open after defeating Marie Bouzkova 6-4, 6-2 in the third round at Roland Garros.

The eighth seed secured victory in one hour and 35 minutes to continue her strong run in the tournament. Andreeva handled key moments well throughout the match and maintained control during long rallies in the warm conditions in Paris.

The opening set remained close during the early stages, with Andreeva saving a break point in the sixth game before earning a decisive break herself in the ninth. She then served out the set comfortably to move ahead.

Andreeva continued her momentum at the start of the second set by breaking Bouzkova immediately. The 19 year old Russian added another break to love in the seventh game before completing the straight sets victory.

Speaking after the match, Andreeva said: “I was very happy I was able to close the first set despite missing some shots.

“Very happy I was able to play aggressive throughout the match.”

Andreeva also said the hot weather conditions in Paris suited her style of play.

“When it’s hot and its sunny I feel I have an advantage because when the ball is bouncing I can get a better shape on it,” she said.
