Carlos Alcaraz is the last semi-finalist at the US Open.
The defending champion previously knocked out the German Alexander Zverev in three sets, and in the match for the final, he will fight against Daniil Medvedev.
“Yes, of course, I remember that. I remember when we played in Madrid this year, he said after the match that he was not ready. I was sad about that. We had great battles when I saw him in the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam playing the best tennis, I was so happy. He struggled a lot in his career, but finally, we all saw him play the best tennis. I enjoy his game, we are all happy that he is back on the field”, he alluded to Zverev’s longer break last season.
Alcaraz is much more confident this year.
“Yes, I feel confident and relaxed, I like playing in New York. I’m at my best here, right in this field. Last year it was very difficult, from the fourth round I played all matches in five sets. Now only one in four, physically I feel great, mentally too, I am ready for the battle against Medvedev in the semi-finals”, added Alcaraz.
. “I’m aggressive, it’s nice when I play in front of legends. Alex, my trainer Juan Carlos Ferrero was also there. He always pushed me to do those things, to play my game, aggressively. If I miss, it’s hard for me. I don’t like to miss chances, but we have to keep playing. We talk about it often, I want to play in the best style in every match”.
“Yes, I always try to do that. Of course, I play for myself and my team, but I try to make people enjoy watching me. I try to do things differently. The audience may not be used to so many drop shots, but I always know they enjoy it when I have a smile on my face”, concluded Carlos Alcaraz.
