Maltese Players Shine at Paris Major Table Football Tournament

Maltese table football players achieved remarkable success at the Paris Major, held over the past weekend, delivering strong performances across various categories.

Open Category

In the highly competitive Open category, Samuel Bartolo reached the semifinals after impressive victories against Fabrizio Fedele and Pascal Scheen. However, his journey ended at the hands of Carlos Flores, who went on to win the tournament.

Other Maltese players, Jurgen Balzan, Derek Conti, Mark Gauci, and Jean Tabone, advanced past the group stage but were eliminated in the Round of 32. Isaac Sam Camilleri, on the other hand, was eliminated in the group phase.

Veterans Category

Maltese veteran Charlie Aquilina secured another prestigious result, making it all the way to the final. He triumphed over Sebastien Rochez in the semifinals but was ultimately defeated by Gianfranco Calonico in the title match.

Meanwhile, Joseph Mifsud and Jason Pisani reached the Round of 16, while John Zammit made it to the Round of 32. Emanuel Camilleri was eliminated in the group stage.

Team Category

The tournament saw a Maltese triumph in the team category, as Joseph Mifsud’s Fiamme Azzurre secured victory by defeating Eagles Napoli 3-1 in the final.

Maltese clubs Valletta SC and Bormla SC performed strongly, both winning their respective groups and advancing to the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, ST Stembert, featuring John Zammit, reached the Round of 16, while Langton Green SC, represented by Emanuel and Isaac Sam Camilleri, was eliminated in the group stage.

The participation of Maltese players in international tournaments continues to be possible thanks to the support of SportMalta and the Malta Olympic Committee. These outstanding results highlight the growing strength of Maltese table football on the international stage.
