Over the weekend of May 3rd and 4th, 2025, the Bormla Subbuteo Club successfully hosted the FISTF Bormla Grand Prix at the American University of Malta, drawing 50 top athletes from across Europe for a thrilling two-day table football event.

Saturday’s competitions saw individual brilliance on full display. In the Open category, it was Valletta Subbuteo Club’s Samuel Bartolo who emerged victorious, defeating teammate Mark Gauci in an all-Valletta final. The semi-finalists were Jamie Bonnici of Lazio TFC and Austrian Wolfgang Haas, who competed under the Bormla SC banner.

In the Veteran category, Bormla SC claimed the top spot through Jason Pisani, who triumphed over fellow club member Charles Aquilina. Patrick Pace of Lazio TFC and Mario Camilleri of Messina CT rounded out the semi-finalists.

Young Maltese talent was also on show, with Palermo’s Jayden Bonnici putting in a standout performance by winning both the Under-16 and Under-20 categories. In the U20 final, he defeated Belgian Noah Janssens of Stembert ST, while in the U16 he overcame Bormla SC’s rising star Gabriel Ebejer.

Sunday was dedicated to the team event, where Valletta SC continued their strong form by winning the final against Lazio CDT. Both Bormla SC teams reached the semi-finals, demonstrating the club’s depth and commitment to the sport.

The event was a celebration of international camaraderie, competitive spirit, and the continued growth of subbuteo in Malta.
