Valletta SC win Major de Mallorca as Maltese athletes shine in Spain

Valletta SC were crowned champions and Bormla SC reached the semifinals at the Major de Mallorca tournament held in Spain last weekend, with several Maltese athletes competing across different categories.

In the team event, Valletta SC were the standout performers. They beat Reggio Emilia 3-0 in the semifinals before defeating Virtus Rieti 4-0 in the final to claim the title. The Valletta squad consisted of Samuel Bartolo, Jurgen Balzan, Derek Conti, Mark Gauci, Kurt Polidano and Christophe Dheur.

Bormla SC also had a solid run, reaching the semifinals before being knocked out by Virtus Rieti. Their squad was made up of George Ebejer, Jason Pisani, Christian Haas, David Gonzalez and Bessim Golger.

In the Open individual category, Samuel Bartolo and Mark Gauci reached the quarterfinals, while George Ebejer made it to the last 16 and Jurgen Balzan to the last 32. Spencer Conti progressed to the playoff stage, while Kurt Polidano was eliminated at the group stage. In the Veterans category, Jason Pisani reached the last 16.
