Aaron Busuttil and Chris Peplow will face each other in the semi-finals of the Six Reds individual competition at the EBSA European Snooker Championship in Sofia, Bulgaria.
On Saturday, both Maltese players won all three of their knockout matches to book their places in the last four.
Busuttil reached the semi-finals after a convincing 4-0 victory over Frenchman Niel Vincent in the last 32. He then defeated England’s Halim Hussain 4-1 in the last 16 before overcoming Germany’s Simon Lichtenberg by the same score in the quarter-finals.
Peplow also enjoyed a strong run, defeating German player Christian Richter 4-1 in the last 32 before overcoming England’s Steve Crowley 4-2 in the last 16. In the quarter-finals, he defeated Finland’s Toni Savonen 4-1 to secure his place in the semi-finals.
Alex Borg was the other Maltese player involved in the last 32, but his run came to an end after he suffered a 4-1 defeat to England’s Halim Hussain.
The all-Maltese semi-final between Busuttil and Peplow will be played on Sunday at 09:00, with the final scheduled for 15:30. The Six Reds final will be played over the best of nine frames.
The winner of the Maltese semi-final will face either Germany’s Alexander Widau or Wales’ Alfie Davies in the final.

Malta is therefore guaranteed a place in the Six Reds final and, regardless of the outcome, the Maltese contingent will have won a total of five medals during the European Snooker Championship.
Before the Six Reds final, the EBSA Shoot Out competition will also take place on Sunday, with the competition to be completed between the semi-finals and the final. A total of 53 players will participate, including the five Maltese players who competed in the Six Reds competition.
