Salernitana-Sampdoria clash ends early following crowd disorder

The match between Salernitana and Sampdoria was abandoned in the 65th minute with Sampdoria leading 2-0, thanks to goals from Coda in the 38th minute and Sibilli in the 49th minute. Midway through the second half, frustrated Salernitana fans, resigned to the near-certain relegation to Serie C, began throwing smoke bombs and stadium seats onto the pitch from the Curva Sud Siberiano.

Referee Daniele Doveri initially suspended the game and then sent the players to the locker rooms as the situation escalated. Riot police intervened to restore order, but after several minutes of disruption and more seats being thrown onto the field, Doveri decided to definitively abandon the match for safety reasons.

This incident reflects the growing tension surrounding Salernitana’s difficult season and could lead to disciplinary action against the club, including fines or other sanctions.
