The captain of the Croatian national team, Luka Modric, pointed out that the Vatreni team showed character and deservedly won against Canada in the second round of the World Cup in Qatar.
“It was good, it was great. In the first 15-20 minutes, we didn’t get into the game well, but then we showed quality and character. We did everything we agreed on, everything we did these days in training we transferred to the field. It was a good game and result,” said Modric.
In the third round of the group stage, on Thursday, Croatia will play a direct duel against Belgium to advance to the round of 16.
“We know what kind of team Belgium is, they are struggling in this championship, but we have a tough game ahead of us. We have to rest well and prepare as we did for Canada“, said Modric.
After two rounds, Croatia leads Group F with four points, the same number as Morocco, Belgium has three, and Canada has no points.
