France coach Didier Deschamps rejected the possibility of Karim Benzema being part of the team in the final of the World Cup.
“I have 24 players. It’s a group. Karim dropped, then Lucas Hernandez, and before them Christopher Nkunku. Benzema, Nkunku, and Hernandez are the players we lost who were on the roster. I’m concentrating on the team I have and can count on in tomorrow’s final,” Deschamps said at the press conference ahead of the match with Argentina.
“It is not up to me to decide who will come to watch the game, the former players or the injured ones. It is up to me to focus on the football players, who are at my disposal”, added the French coach.
Let’s remember that Benzema was injured two days before the start of the World Cup, but Deschamps did not call a new player instead.
