Father-and-son duo Brian and Danny Flahive crowned Champions at RMYC Quest Dinghy Regatta

The RMYC Quest Dinghy Regatta came to a close on Tuesday afternoon, rounding off a week of competitive and entertaining racing on the water.

Twelve teams were split into two groups, with each side completing 12 races during the qualifying rounds. The top three teams from each group progressed to the Final Round, while the remaining teams took part in a Consolation Round to keep everyone on the water and racing.

Ripards Win Consolation Round in Father-and-Daughter Victory

The Consolation Round went to the father-and-daughter pairing of Sebastian and Olivia Ripard, with Keith and India Cutajar finishing as runners-up.

The Final Round brought together six teams across three races in tricky conditions, with a light and unpredictable north-westerly breeze funnelling out of Manoel Island Creek making life difficult for all competitors.

Rising to the challenge, father-and-son duo Brian and Danny Flahive put in a flawless performance, winning all three races to take the title in style.

Vinicius Degrave and Nicole Valentina Zemoz claimed second place, pipping Jake Aquilina and Michaela Gauci Borda by a single point in a tight battle for the podium.

The prize-giving ceremony took place at the Club after racing, in the presence of Rear Commodore (Sailing) Adrian Gauci Borda and Committee Member Aaron Gatt Floridia.
