A city official announced on Friday that a test for the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony, initially set for later this month on the Seine, has been delayed due to increased river flow from heavy rainfall.
The technical trial for the boats, which will carry athletes in a six-kilometre parade, was originally planned for May 27 but has been postponed because of recent substantial rain. “The Seine’s flow is currently too high. We aim to replicate the conditions expected on July 26 as closely as possible,” Pierre Rabadan, the deputy mayor for sports, informed Reuters.
