Andy Murray's career wraps up as he and Dan Evans face defeat in Paris

Andy Murray’s illustrious tennis career came to an end on Thursday when he and Dan Evans were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Paris Olympics at Roland Garros.

The British pair faced a 6-2 6-4 loss against the American duo of Tommy Paul and Taylor Fritz, marking Murray’s final match before retirement. The match served as a poignant conclusion to Murray’s career, with the 37-year-old displaying his characteristic resilience as he and Evans fought to extend the second set despite trailing 4-1.

The pair faced one hurdle too many, having miraculously saved five match points in their first-round match and two more in the second round.

Murray exits the world of tennis as a two-time Olympic champion, a three-time Grand Slam champion, a former world No. 1, and arguably Britain’s greatest athlete of all time.

Following their victory, Paul and Fritz, along with the Roland Garros crowd, applauded Murray as he bid farewell to the sport where he solidified his legacy as one of the all-time greats.

This moment comes shortly after Murray bid goodbye to his home fans at Wimbledon, where he chose to play doubles alongside his brother Jamie, opting out of singles due to recent surgery.
