Four teams won the first leg of the the National Christmas Cup semifinals organized by the Maltese Blackball Federation. Birkirkara Duke’s A, Hamrun 147 A, Cospicua Rangers and Jojo’s Birżebbuġa A won their first match against their respective opponents. Hamrun 147 A beat their second team Hamrun 147 B 13-7 while Birkirkara Duke’s A were better than San Ġwann Nick’s A so much so that they won 13-6. On the other hand, we had interesting clashes between Birkirkara Youngsters and Jojo’s Birżebbuġa with the latter winning 12-8 as well as between Cospicua Rangers and Valletta Breakwater with the former winning 11-9. Meanwhile, the second legs of these semi-finals will take place on Friday 15 December with the final of this competition scheduled for Friday 29 December. In the Regional Christmas Cup, Valletta Fossa Boys and Hamrun 147 C have progressed to the next phase after defeating PL Balzan A (21-18) and Kazin Pinto Qormi A (21-17).
