Checkmate MMA Malta celebrated a major milestone as Rowen Reed and Sean Borg completed the WKA International Instructor Course, earning international recognition from the World Kickboxing and Karate Association (WKA International).
Both coaches passed Part One (Silver Certificate) and Part Two (Gold Certificate), officially becoming certified WKA instructors. The certifications were presented by Mr. Simon Chetcuti, the official WKA Representative for Malta, during a special ceremony honouring their achievement.
In addition to their instructor qualifications, both Reed and Borg were also certified in Prestige Combat Sports by Mr. Dave Sawyer, World President of the WKA, further highlighting their professional growth and contribution to the martial arts community.
This accomplishment underscores the continued development of MMA and Traditional Jiu-Jitsu in Malta, as local coaches gain international accreditation and recognition for their dedication to high-level instruction and athlete development.

The WKA certification not only recognises their technical expertise but also strengthens Malta’s presence on the global martial arts stage.
