Giuseppe Bepi Ros, a former boxing champion, has died at the age of 80.
Giuseppe was the winner of the bronze Olympic medal in Tokyo in 1964.
He died of the coronavirus, and just a few days earlier, his brother, Ernesto, a former Italian super-welterweight champion, also lost his life to the virus.
Giuseppe was the winner of the Olympic bronze medal in heavyweight boxing in Tokyo in 1964. He was the world military champion in 1963, and in 1964 he won his first title of Italian champion.
Bepi Ros was the Italian heavyweight champion in 1970, 1971 and 1972.
Bepi Ros, originally from Santa Maria di Piave, lived in Susegana where, after finishing his career, he ran a restaurant with his wife.
He struggled with Alzheimer’s disease, for which he had to go to a wheelchair, which was taken care of by his family.
