Marc Marquez claimed the 100th victory of his career across all classes with a superb win at the Hungarian Grand Prix at Balaton Park on Sunday, adding yet another landmark moment to one of motorsport’s most remarkable careers.
The seven-time MotoGP world champion, who had only recently returned from double surgery on his shoulder and foot, made it a perfect weekend by also taking pole position and winning Saturday’s sprint race before sealing the main event on Sunday.
The 33-year-old Ducati rider beat KTM’s Pedro Acosta to the chequered flag, with his teammate Francesco Bagnaia completing the podium in third place. It was Marquez’s first race win since the San Marino Grand Prix last year.
It was a very different story for Aprilia, who endured a nightmare afternoon when Jorge Martin lost control on the first lap at turn one and crashed into three riders, including his teammate and championship leader Marco Bezzecchi.
