When water polo action kicks off at the World Aquatics Championships – Singapore 2025 this July, all eyes will be on the KAP7 HydroGrip ball, officially unveiled today during the Men’s and Women’s Water Polo Draw for the upcoming tournament.
World Aquatics has announced a landmark partnership with American manufacturer KAP7, securing the use of its water polo balls at all international matches through 2028—including the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Founded by Olympians Bradley Schumacher and Wolf Wigo, KAP7 is dedicated to advancing water polo through innovation, quality craftsmanship, and accessibility. Under the mantra “Built by Water Polo Players, For Water Polo Players,” KAP7 produces custom event balls and country-specific designs, which will be available online and at World Aquatics event pop-up shops.
The HydroGrip ball, known for its superior grip and precision construction, is trusted by athletes from grassroots levels to the sport’s elite. It will be featured at all World Aquatics water polo competitions, starting with Singapore 2025 and continuing through LA28.
World Aquatics, the governing body overseeing water polo alongside five other aquatic disciplines—swimming, diving, artistic swimming, open water swimming, and high diving—continues its mission of “A world united by water, for health, life, and sport.”
World Aquatics President Husain Al-Musallam welcomed the partnership:
“I am thrilled about this collaboration. KAP7’s expertise and passion for aquatic sports make them an ideal partner. Their high-quality products and commitment to elevating both the sport and fan experience align perfectly with our vision for water polo’s growth.”
Beyond supplying top-tier match balls, the partnership also focuses on grassroots development. Together, World Aquatics and KAP7 will expand initiatives like the Growing Ghana Project, which aims to increase access to water polo across Africa and further promote inclusivity and representation.
“Becoming the Official Ball of World Aquatics is a milestone for us,” said Bradley Schumacher, KAP7 President and two-time Olympic champion. “Since 2004, our mission has been to innovate for water polo and support the global community. This partnership accelerates our ability to grow the sport worldwide.”
James Moy, World Aquatics Marketing Director, added:
“Partners like KAP7 are crucial to staging world-class events like the World Aquatics Championships. Their support helps us drive water polo’s development and global reach.”
The collaboration marks an exciting chapter for water polo, promising enhanced experiences for players and fans alike at every level of the game.
