Last weekend saw the Europa League Table Football competition, featuring a strong Maltese presence.
Valletta Lions finished in seventh place in the tournament. They defeated Portugal’s Belenenses in the round of sixteen but were eliminated in the quarterfinals by SS Lazio TFC, with a score of 3-1. The team included Steve Austin, Adrian Bonnici, Jeshua Bonnici, Frank Chetcuti Dimech, Max Pereira, Miguel Pereira, and Joe Zammit Pavia.
Meanwhile, Ħ’Attard SC made history by also reaching the quarterfinals. They defeated Portugal’s Sporting CP in the round of sixteen but were knocked out by Italy’s Virtus Rieti in the quarterfinals.
The two Maltese teams eventually faced each other to determine the seventh and eighth places, where Valletta Lions emerged victorious over Ħ’Attard SC, winning on goal difference after a 2-2 draw.
SS Lazio TFC, led by Patrick Pace and also represented by Jamie Bonnici, reached the semifinals but lost to Napoli Fighters with a score of 2-1.
