The Bormla Subbuteo Club delivered an outstanding performance at the Major of Mallorca in Spain, reaching the final of the prestigious table football tournament, where they faced fellow Maltese side Valletta SC in an all-Maltese showdown.
On Saturday, the individual competitions brought early success. Bessim Golger advanced to the semi-finals of the Open category, while Jason Pisani mirrored that result in the Veteran category. In the Ladies division, Kathy Waldorf Busch secured a third-place finish, bringing Malta’s medal tally to three bronzes on the day.
The momentum continued into Sunday’s team event. Bormla, currently ranked world number one, dominated Group 1, defeating Spain’s Murcia B 4-0 and edging Belgium’s SC Lions Eugies 2-1. Their strong form carried into the knockout stages, where they overcame Mallorca Aguilas (Spain) 3-1 in the quarter-finals and edged Italian giants Bologna 1-0 in a hard-fought semi-final.
The final saw Bormla fall 0-3 to Valletta SC, but the club still proudly took home silver after an impressive campaign. The Bormla team was composed of Jason Pisani, George Ebejer, Bessim Golger, and David Busch.

Bormla Subbuteo Club will now turn its attention to organising the FISTF Bormla Grand Prix 2025, which will be held at the American University of Malta (AUM) campus next weekend — a marquee event set to attract top talent from across the globe.
