The Aquatic Sports Association of Malta (ASA) announced that Milan Cirovic has stepped down from his roles as Head Coach of the Senior Men’s National Team and Technical Director of Maltese Men’s Water Polo.
The ASA Executive said that it has accepted Cirovic’s resignation with deep appreciation and sincere gratitude for the exceptional contribution he made to Maltese water polo throughout his tenure. Under his guidance, the national programme continued to progress significantly, achieving historic results and further enhancing Malta’s standing on the international stage.
Since taking up his appointment, Cirovic played a central role in the advancement of Malta’s national water polo structures. In addition to leading the Senior Men’s National Team, he contributed extensively to the development of youth programmes and the broader technical framework of the sport locally.
ASA President Karl Izzo stated: “Milan’s resignation is a decision we fully respect, although one we receive with great disappointment. He has been instrumental in elevating standards across our national teams and leaves behind a lasting legacy within Maltese water polo. His professionalism, commitment, and technical knowledge have been key factors in some of the most successful moments of recent years. On behalf of the ASA Executive, our athletes, staff, and the entire water polo community, I extend our heartfelt thanks to Milan for his outstanding service and wish him every success in the future.”
The ASA will now begin the process of identifying and appointing a successor to ensure continuity and stability ahead of an important period of international commitments, including forthcoming youth and senior competitions.
