The Malta national water polo team, led by Head Coach Milan Cirovic and Assistant Coach Jonathan Valletta, has announced the list of players selected for an upcoming training camp. This camp will be held in Malta between 17th and 22nd May 2025 and forms a key part of the team’s preparations for the European Aquatics Qualifications scheduled for June.
The squad features a strong blend of experienced athletes and emerging talent, all drawn from Malta’s top water polo clubs. The players selected hail from Neptunes, San Giljan, Sirens, Sliema and Valletta, reflecting the depth of talent in the domestic league. The training camp will focus on improving match fitness, refining tactical approaches, and enhancing team chemistry ahead of the highly anticipated qualifiers.
From Neptunes, the selected players include Matthias Azzopardi, Stevie Camilleri, Mark Castillo, Sam Gialanze, and Jake Muscat. Representing San Giljan are Jeremy Abela, Jake Bonavia, Jake Tanti (Goalkeeper), Darren Zammit and Matthew Zammit. Sirens will be represented by Matthew Bonello Du Puis (Goalkeeper), Jake Cachia and Gregory Jerome Zerafa. Sliema has five players in the squad: Benjamin Busuttil (Goalkeeper), Benji Cachia, Jayden Cutajar, Liam Galea and Elijah Schembri. Completing the list is Valletta’s Andrew Bugeja, who joins as a goalkeeper.
Coach Cirovic and his team are optimistic about the squad’s potential and believe that the upcoming camp will provide a solid foundation for Malta’s campaign in the European competition. With a mix of skill, discipline and determination, the national team is aiming to make a significant impact at the qualification stage.
