Malta succumb to Turkey in second match of U19 European water polo championships

Malta succumbed to Turkey 9-12 in a close fought match which was the second encounter of the European U19 water polo championships being held in Burgas, Bulgaria. Malta were actually 7-5 ahead at one point but some controversial refereeing decisions saw Turkey gain the upper hand in the final two sessions.

Malta’s goals were scored by Kieyan Borg (3), Dean Bugeja (2), Alec Fenech (2), Jayden Cutajar (1), Elijah Schembri (1)

On Sunday, Malta lost their first encounter aginst the much stronger Netherlands by 15 goals to 8. Jayden Cutajar scored 5 whilst Alec Fenech scored 3. Malta’s next match is tomorrow at 0945CET against France which is their final group game.
