The local sport and particularly the water polo scene is in mourning following the announcement of the death of Edgar Izzo. Izzo, the father of current ASA President Karl Izzo was involved in sports for many decades. He was treasurer of the Aquatic Sports Association as well as a committee member of Sliema Wanderers FC for several years.
Izzo also served as Vice President of Sliema Aquatic Sports Club under the late Edwin Meli.
Izzo was well known as a supporter of Newcastle United FC apart from obviously being a keen supporter of Sliema ASC and SWFC.
The Malta Sport team extends its condolences to the Izzo family.
