In a surprise move for local water polo, Andreas Galea has become a Sliema player after announcing that he left San Giljan.
Galea had a glittering career with San Giljan having won all major honours in the sport for multiple times. In fact, he won five Summer Leagues and eight Knockout titles.
This transfer was also confirmed by the San Giljan Club who thanked the player for his service over the years he was with the Club.
Andreas Galea was a product of San Giljan and played for several years with the Maltese National Water Polo team. However he was recently not chosen for national team matches by coach Miroslav Cirovic which led to some controversy.
Sliema have not revealed if Galea signed on a two or three year contract and the fee is rumoured to be around EUR 70,000.
