On day three of the European Artistic Swimming Championships in Funchal, Spain continued their dominance, winning two more gold medals in the mixed duet free and team technical events. Meanwhile, Italy celebrated a historic first as Enrica Piccoli and Lucrezia Ruggiero claimed the country’s first-ever European duet title.
Italy’s duet gave an impressive performance to a Hypnosis-themed routine, scoring 250.6683. Spain’s Olympic duo Iris Tio Casas and Lilou Lluis Valette earned silver with an artistic and emotional routine. Germany surprised everyone by taking bronze — their first duet medal since 1983.

Later, in the mixed duet final, Spain’s Dennis Gonzalez Boneu and Tio Casas (her second medal of the day) wowed with a bold routine to Led Zeppelin, earning gold. Italy followed with silver, and Great Britain claimed bronze with a creative “Snakes” routine by Ranjuo Tomblin and Holly Hughes.
Spain capped the day by winning the team technical final for the third year in a row, performing to Backstreet Boys. With five golds so far, Spain sit firmly at the top of the medals table.
Ukraine took silver, their first medal of the championships, and France earned bronze, returning to the podium after missing the 2024 edition.
The Championships conclude tomorrow with solo technical and team acrobatic finals.
