Maltese swimmer Sasha Gatt delivered strong performances at the AP Race London International in the United Kingdom, improving her own national records in the 200m and 800m freestyle events.
Gatt, a two time Olympian, Junior European finalist and Under 23 European finalist, competed at the meet for the first time. The competition featured a strong international field and formed part of her preparations towards the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
In the 200m freestyle, Gatt improved her own Maltese national record twice on the same day. She also set a new improved national record in the 800m freestyle, achieving 776 World Aquatics points, which marked her highest score of the season so far.

Gatt said the experience was valuable as part of her development. She stated: “Competing in such an incredible atmosphere alongside world class athletes made this meet a truly special experience.”
Gatt added that the focus now returns to training as she continues preparations for upcoming international competitions and the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Gatt also thanked her coach, Stan Ioan Catalin, for his continued support throughout the season.
