Neil Agius reaches Valletta and has been swimming for around 50 hours

How has your weekend been? For Neil Agius it’s just been 48 straight hours of non-stop swimming around the Maltese islands

Neil left Mellieħa Bay on Saturday at 9am, turning clockwise across the eastern coast and making his way up the deep western coast overnight, was approaching Gozo by Sunday 9am, and passed by his starting point in Għadira at around 1am last night

Now, with 48 hours down and the final stretch ahead of him, Neil is currently near Valletta, having just gone by the Grand Harbour.

Come on Neil, go the distance and show us all how it’s done!

While most of us were cosy at home sleeping through the night and as many wake up for the first day of school, Neil Agius has kept on swimming like an absolute machine… and he’s not only made it through his second consecutive night, but is also already halfway down the eastern coast of Malta.

Last night was shaping up to be a challenging one, with Agius feeling very cold very quickly, even before he needed to cross from Gozo to Malta. But at around 1am, he managed to arrive in the mainland, and by the very early hours of the morning, was already being spotted all along the Coast Road, St Julian’s and Sliema.
