Aquahub Malta return from Trofeo Piskeo with record and multiple medals

Aquahub Malta has returned from its third participation in the 20th edition of the Trofeo Piskeo international swimming competition in Messina, Italy, with a strong medal tally across its competitive squad. The event featured more than 1,400 swimmers from Italy, including several athletes who reached podium positions.

A key performance came from Samuel Camilleri, who set a new Maltese National Age Group Record in the 200m butterfly with a time of 2:09.10. The result marked a milestone for the club and added to a successful weekend in competition.

Six Aquahub Malta swimmers reached the podium during the meet. Martina Galea won the Australiana girls category and also secured four silver medals across her events. Oskar Schmidt and Ema Camilleri each won gold medals, while Samuel Camilleri added two silver medals alongside his record performance. Caine Schembri and Michela Camilleri each won bronze medals.

The club’s full medal tally included Martina Galea with one category win and four silver medals, Oskar Schmidt with two gold medals, Ema Camilleri with one gold medal, Samuel Camilleri with two silver medals and the national age group record, Caine Schembri with one bronze medal, and Michela Camilleri with one bronze medal.

Aquahub Malta coaches noted the team’s collective performance and the support shown between swimmers during the competition. The club stated that this reflected the development of its programme across different age groups.

The club will now turn its attention to the National Championships, which are scheduled to take place in Malta in the coming weeks.
