National Swimming School students return from London with 38 medal haul

A group of National Swimming School students have just returned from London where they participated in the 2024 World School Swim Championships between the 10th and 12th May.

Hosted at the iconic London Aquatics Centre which was home to the 2012 Olympic Games, NSS students swam their hearts out making it to the finals and placing amongst the fastest swimmers of the event. They brought back home a total of 38 medals. The following is a breakdown of the swimmers’ achievements:

Gwyneth Schembri: 2 bronze
Naiyelli Clark Spiteri: 3 bronze
Jack Vella: 3 silver, 2 gold
Ella Fenech Attard: 3 bronze, 2 silver, 4 gold
Ema Liz Cassar: 3 bronze
Elize Cushing: 2 bronze
Sophia Allen: 4 bronze, 3 silver, 1 gold
Giuseppe Borg: 1 bronze
Luke Zammit: 2 bronze, 1 silver

Leading the team of swimmers were swimming coach Davina Camilleri and waterpolo coach Niki Lanzon. The Head of School Mr. Robert Magro also accompanied the team.
