Next weekend, on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th September, the Malta Triathlon Federation (MTF) will make history by hosting the Junior European Cup and the Mediterranean Triathlon Championship at the Salina circuit. This marks the first time Malta has been chosen to hold such prestigious events, attracting over 180 athletes from 30 different countries, including nations from the Mediterranean and beyond.
The Malta stage of the competition is particularly significant for the participating triathletes, as it serves as the final opportunity for them to earn points towards their overall classification in the Championship.
On Saturday, the focus will be on the Junior European Cup. The competition will kick off with the Male Juniors competing in three semifinals, followed by the Female Juniors in their own semifinals. In the afternoon, the excitement will build as both male and female athletes compete in the finals across two distinct competitions.

Sunday will feature the Elite triathletes in the Mediterranean Triathlon Championship, where both male and female competitors will take part in the finals. This will be followed by the Junior Mixed Relay Race, adding another layer of excitement to the weekend’s events.

Awards will be presented during the Malta Triathlon Federation Celebration Night on Sunday evening, recognizing the outstanding performances of the athletes throughout the weekend. Additionally, a congress will be held on Saturday afternoon, providing a platform for discussions and networking among participants and officials.
The success of this event would not have been possible without the generous support of sponsors such as Gatorade and Media Troopers, along with government agencies including Visit Malta, SportMalta, Transport Malta, and CleanMalta.
A special acknowledgment is also extended to the dedicated volunteers who have worked tirelessly to organize this significant sporting event in less than a year, successfully attracting a record number of athletes from various continents.
This occasion not only provides a competitive stage for local athletes but also enhances Malta’s reputation as a host for international sporting events.
