Sliema Aquatic Sports Club swimmers record strong international results in Sicily and London

Sliema Aquatic Sports Club continued its international swimming campaign this season with more than 30 athletes representing the club in competitions held in Sicily and the United Kingdom.

The club’s Junior and Top Squads competed at the XX Trofeo Piskeo in Messina, while the Elite Squad participated in the APRacing London International Competition.

Several swimmers produced notable performances across the two events, with Sliema athletes recording national records, medal finishes and personal best times.

Matthew Satariano broke the Maltese national record in the 400m Individual Medley twice on the same day, eventually recording a time of 4:30.67. He also secured the gold medal in the junior final.

Nathan Cachia established a new national record in the 200m Butterfly after finishing in 2:03.30.

Sasha Gatt also delivered multiple record breaking performances. She lowered the national record in the 200m Freestyle twice, ending with a time of 2:02.42, while also setting a new Maltese record in the 800m Freestyle with a time of 8:46.69.

Elsewhere, Aerin Chilton finished third in the 100m Backstroke following another strong performance for the club.

The competitions featured a mix of experienced swimmers and athletes making their first appearances at international level. The club highlighted the contribution of all swimmers across both events, with performances reflecting the work carried out by athletes, coaches and support teams throughout the season.
