Kavallieri Rugby Football Club claimed the MRFU Prestige Cup after defeating UM Wolves 27-14 in Saturday’s final at Marsa Sports Grounds.
The victory secured Kavallieri RFC’s first major trophy in 15 years in front of an estimated crowd of around 300 spectators.
Kavallieri faced a difficult opening half and trailed 14-3 at the break after UM Wolves established an early advantage.
However, the second half saw Kavallieri respond strongly, scoring 24 unanswered points to complete the comeback and secure the trophy.
The result also reflected the club’s long term focus on youth development and academy structures. Kavallieri RFC operates a rugby academy for boys and girls from the age of seven onwards, with more than 120 children participating annually over the past 25 years.
Approximately half of the players involved in the final squad progressed through the club’s academy system before reaching senior level.

The club has continued investing in coaching structures, player development and rugby pathways over recent seasons, with Saturday’s success representing the outcome of sustained long term planning.
The victory marks a significant achievement for the club and adds another major title to its history within Maltese rugby.
