Marsascala Heat Hockey Club travelled to Potenza Picena, Italy, with their Under-12 and Under-16 squads to participate in the seventh edition of the Del Picchio hockey festival. The tournament featured thirty teams from seven different countries.
Our Under-12 team was made up of players who were tasting their first international experience. They managed two ties and positive performances.
On the other hand, the Under-16 squad performed beyond expectations against more quotes teams registering two wins, two ties and a tight loss. They even managed to beat tournament favourites Pescara, in what proved to be the highlight moment of the weekend.
Accompanying the team was one of the emerging local umpires Dario Cacopardo. He officiated no less than fifteen matches including a number of finals.
Nursery Head Coach Pieter Bregman said that this trip served to motivate players ahead of the upcoming season. He was satisfied with the overall performance of the kids.
