Malta’s artistic gymnastics team closed a memorable European Championships campaign in Zagreb with performances that underlined the continued progress of the sport locally.
Senior gymnasts Sophie St John, Lyana Curmi Inguanez and Philippa Busuttil represented Malta on the European stage with commitment and pride, while junior athletes Janet and Julia Galea delivered strong performances of their own.
The twin sisters finished with notable European Championship results, with Janet Galea placing 35th and Julia Galea finishing 40th.
The campaign also highlighted the work of coach Nataliya Berehova, who has played an important role in the long-term development of Malta’s gymnasts through years of training, preparation and international competition.
Attention now turns to the next challenges. Janet Galea is preparing for the Junior Olympic Games in Senegal, while Sophie St John and Lyana Curmi Inguanez are set to continue their international programme at the World Challenge Cup in Hungary.
For Malta, the Zagreb campaign was another positive step as local gymnasts continue to build confidence, experience and international exposure.
