Cachia dominated the fight across all three rounds. In the first round, after just one minute, his powerful punches and kicks floored Vernuccio, prompting the referee to begin a count. Despite the knockdown, Vernuccio continued the fight. Cachia’s relentless momentum continued into the second round, where his combination techniques and a decisive right-hand punch once again sent Vernuccio to the mat. This time, however, the referee did not initiate a count, leading Cachia’s coach, Noel Mercieca, to protest the decision.

In the third and final round, both fighters displayed a variety of combinations, but Cachia’s dominance remained clear. His superior technique and control secured him a unanimous decision victory, marking a significant win on the international stage.

Another young fighter from Team Noel Malta, Kaiden Camilleri, also participated in the event, facing an Italian opponent in his first competition of this level. Despite a valiant effort, Camilleri lost by points.

Coach and Master Noel Mercieca expressed immense satisfaction with the performances of both fighters, particularly highlighting Ryan Cachia’s impressive win. Mercieca noted that Cachia accepted the fight on short notice, just two weeks prior, and still managed to secure a victory.

He emphasized the pride and motivation that comes with winning abroad, stating, “This victory motivates me to continue providing opportunities not only to my team but to all Maltese fighters across the island.”
