Seven Maltese athletes have travelled to Kamnik, Slovenia, to compete in the European Athletics Off-Road Running Championships, which take place this weekend from 5–7 June.
This year’s edition is set to be the biggest in the history of the event, with a record 593 athletes from 33 countries entered for the competition. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, the championships will feature a range of disciplines including classic uphill races, up-and-down mountain races, and trail running events.
Representing Malta across the various categories are:
- Tara Abdilla – Uphill Race (8.8km, +1,280m elevation)
- Giselle Camilleri – Uphill Race
- Tommy Wallbank – Uphill Race
- Ryan Farrugia – Trail Race (52.7km, +2,648m elevation)
- Aidan Tanti – Trail Race
- Isaac Attard – Trail Race
- Iris Merle Camilleri – Under 20 Uphill Race and Up/Down Race (5.7km, +375m / -375m)
