Floriana Young Stars and GREE Żurrieq Wolves Hotsticks maintain first place

Floriana Young Stars and GREE Żurrieq Wolves Hotsticks obtained their second consecutive victory in the national Hockey championship so that both of them are occupying the first place in the standings. Floriana Young Stars saw off champions Qormi Daikin 3-2. It was a very beautiful and emotional game with Qormi who had most of the possession but with Floriana who had very dangerous counterattacks from which they even scored three goals. The Greens made their intentions clear from the start where they established a 2-0 lead by the end of the first quarter first through Mark Camilleri and later through Karl Chircop.

In the third quarter, Qormi reduced the score  through a penalty corner by Juan Sarcia but at the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Greens made it three after a penalty stroke by Karl Chircop. Qormi kept attacking to get back into the game with Luke Bajada making it 3-2. Floriana remained concentrated and came away with the two very important points. Umpires were Alessandro Amore and Luke Busuttil Leaver. GREE Żurrieq Wolves Hotsticks suffered more than expected to beat White Hart 3-1. It was only in the last quarter that the Hotsticks made sure of the two final points as their opponents defended boldly while trying to create some counter attacks. After a score of 0-0 until the end of the first quarter, in the second quarter Luke Brincat surged the ahead with Luca Runza making it 2-0. Ali Shah reduced the scoring margin in the third quarter before Silas Plaehn secured the final victory towards the end. Umpires were Karl Chircop and Keith Calleja.

Meanwhile in the under 14 league, De La Salle saw off GREE Żurrieq Wolves Hotsticks 4-0 while Marsaskala beat Qormi Daikin 4-3.
