Castaldi, Mangion and Schembri win pool World Ranking Tournament Titles

Jake Castaldi, Jason Mangion and Kevin Schembri secured victories in their respective categories during Pool World Ranking Tournament No. 4, with all three players also earning places in Malta’s national team for the 2026 World Championships in Morocco.

In the Under 18 category, Jake Castaldi defeated Shazen Ciantar 7-4 in the final. Castaldi established an early advantage and maintained control of the match despite pressure from Ciantar during the later stages.

Oaken Mifsud and Mason Mifsud reached the semi finals after strong performances throughout the tournament.

In the Over 50s category, Jason Mangion claimed the title after defeating Jesmond Schembri 8-4 in the final. Mangion opened the match with a 4-0 lead and maintained his advantage despite a response from Schembri during the middle stages of the contest.

Brian Grech and Marcel Micallef completed the semi final line up in the category.

In the Men’s category, Kevin Schembri recovered from an early deficit to defeat Clint Azzopardi 8-4 in the final. Schembri produced a consistent display during the second half of the match to secure victory and qualification for the World Championships.

Miguel Falzon and Miguel Mizzi reached the semi finals in the Men’s competition.
