The four main futsal teams make it to the E & L Futsal Trophy semifinals

Swieqi United, University of Malta ACJ Group, ŻRQ Bormla and Luxol St Andrews advanced to the E & L Futsal Trophy semifinals when they achieved good victories against their respective opponents.

Holders University of Malta ACJ Group achieved a good 4-0 victory against Birżebbuġa St Peter’s Futsal in order to confirm their place in the last four.

Brazilian player Guilherme Fonseca scored a double while Steven Camilleri and Melvin Borg added more goals for their team.

Referees: Andrea Naudi and Danilo Francalanza.

Last year’s finalists Luxol St Andrew’s recorded an easy 11-1 victory against the Maltese under-18 team.

Victor Oliveira Dias scored a hat-trick, Matthew Attard and Marwan Telisi were authors of a double while Luke Gatt, Jhon Castro Pulido, Andy Mangion and Robert Stoyanov also put their names on the score sheet.

The Maltese youths scored their only goal after an own goal by Mark Zammit.

ŽRQ Bormla did not find it easy at all to eliminate Challenger League team Ta’ Xbiex Futsal 4-2.

The Cottonera side were winning 3-0 until the end of the first half but in the second half there was the reaction of Ta’ Xbiex who scored twice although it was not enough on the day.

Karl Luke Schembri, Rodrigo Da Silva, Karl Sciortino and an own goal by Christian Wismayer scored for ŻRQ Bormla with Ta’ Xbiex reducing the scoring margin through Stefi Cale and Redeemer Borg.

Swieqi United Futsal became the fourth team to make it to the semi-finals after an 8-1 victory against the Maltese under-19 team.

Argentinian player Marcelo Ezequiel Alarcon stood out when he scored three goals with Ryan Muscat netting two goals. Brandon Debono, Rodney Debono and Dylan Pace combined the score for their team with the young Maltese scoring their only goal through Ivin Gatt.

The E & L Futsal Trophy semifinals will be played in mid-May as Swieqi United Futsal face Luxol St Andrew’s while holders University of Malta ACJ Group cross swords with ŻRQ Bormla.
