The Maltese Futsal Premier has reached its decisive stage, with Luxol St Andrews Futsal and University of Malta Futsal confirming their place in the championship final, which will be played over a best-of-three series in the closing days of May.

Luxol’s route to the final once again underlined their dominance on the local scene. In their semi-final clash against Marsaskala Futsal, they were initially tested after conceding an early lead. Yet, once they settled into their rhythm, the response was emphatic. Sustained pressure and clinical finishing saw them overturn the deficit and surge to an 8-1 victory, sealing the tie with authority and securing their place in another final with two straight wins in the series.

The second semi-final delivered a far more balanced and tense contest. University of Malta Futsal and Birżebbuġa Futsal produced a high-intensity encounter that remained finely poised throughout. Birżebbuġa struck first, only for the University to respond and restore parity. The pattern repeated itself as the southern side edged ahead once more, before the University again found an equaliser to bring the match to 2-2.

That draw proved sufficient for the University side, who progressed to the final on aggregate following their first leg advantage. It was a qualification built not on dominance, but on resilience, composure and the ability to respond under pressure.

The stage is now set for a compelling final between two contrasting paths. Luxol arrive with momentum and attacking firepower, while the University side brings organisation and mental strength. Over a best-of-three format, margins will be thin, and the title will likely be decided by discipline, depth and moments of precision.
