The Armed Forces of Malta has recently been represented by Major Joseph Tabone (Chief of Mission), Major Andre Buhagiar (Team Coach), Lance Bombardier Bugeja Clifford (Elite Male Athlete) and Gunner Borg Marlon (Masters 35+ Athlete), at the 2nd CISM Military Functional Fitness Challenge in the Netherlands.
Hosted by the Dutch Military, 14 European Militaries competed over 3 days in 6 different workouts.
The active contribution by the Armed Forces of Malta, gives AFM personnel the opportunity to compete in international and regional high profile military sports events, equivalent only to the Olympics and other similar sports competitions.
The Conseil International du Sport Militaire (International Military Sports Council), is the world’s second-largest multi-discipline sports organisation after the International Olympic Committee. As an organization, it holds high profile regional and international sports competitions for military personnel.
