Elaine Genovese and Francesca Curmi have secured their place in the women’s doubles final, allowing them to compete for the gold medal.
Earlier today, the Maltese pair defeated Judit Cartaña Alaña and Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva with a convincing 6-2, 6-4 straight-sets victory. They will now face the winner of the semi-final between Cyprus and Luxembourg in the final.

In the meantime, Alex Degabriele guaranteed at least a bronze medal after booking his place in the semi-final with a straight-sets victory over Luxembourg’s Raphael Calzi, winning 2-0. Degabriele will now face Monaco’s Valentin Vacherot on May 30th for a spot in the final.
This result provided a much-needed boost for Team Malta, as Thursday had yet to yield any medals. Hopes remain high for further podium finishes in athletics and swimming events.
