The Futsal Malta Association (FMA) convened its Extraordinary General Meeting alongside its Annual General Meeting, during which members approved a series of amendments to the association’s statute.
During the meeting Nathaniel Jones was elected at the new President of the Association as he will replace outgoing President Mark Borg.
The proposed changes in the statutes were designed to further strengthen the FMA’s governance structures while ensuring alignment with the regulatory framework of the Malta Football Association (MFA) and the standards established by the Authority for Integrity in Maltese Sport (AIMS).
During the meetings, members reviewed the association’s administrative report, which outlined the key activities, achievements, and development initiatives undertaken over the past year. The report highlighted the continued progress of futsal in Malta, while the financial report confirmed another positive year for the association.
Addressing members for the final time as President, Perit Mark Borg expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to the growth of the sport during his tenure. He reflected on several landmark achievements, including the launch of the women’s futsal league, the introduction of Video Support for match officials, and the initial steps taken towards securing dedicated premises through collaboration with the MFA and the Central Government.
The meeting also confirmed the appointment of the FMA’s Executive Committee for the 2026–2029 term:
- President: Nathaniel Jones
- Vice President (Operations): George Frendo
- Vice President (Branding & Marketing): Kurt Bonnici
- Secretary General: Andy Mangion
- Treasurer: Clayton Scicluna
In his inaugural address as President, Nathaniel Jones thanked member clubs for their confidence and support, pledging to continue building on the association’s recent progress. He also acknowledged the commitment of the newly elected committee members as they embark on the next phase of futsal’s development in Malta.
Jones paid tribute to the outgoing committee members — Perit Mark Borg, Kurt Rizzo, Matthew Borg, Stefan Cutajar and Anthony Azzopardi — thanking them for their dedicated service and significant contribution to the advancement of the sport.
With the approval of the statute amendments and the election of a new Executive Committee, the Futsal Malta Association enters a new chapter focused on consolidating recent achievements and further enhancing the profile of futsal both in Malta and on the international stage.
