Reigning champions Lija Athletic showcased their dominance in the Enemed Women’s Futsal League this week, delivering a commanding 11-2 victory over Parr Mela to climb to the top of the standings. Jackie Abdilla’s side was relentless from start to finish, securing another vital three points in their campaign to retain the title.
Lija’s ruthless performance
Lija wasted no time asserting their authority, racing to a 5-1 lead by half-time and maintaining control throughout the second half. Leanne Micallef was the show’s star, netting four goals in a clinical display. Ruth Steer Cheetham also impressed with a hat-trick, while Nell Zarb Cousin contributed a brace. Lorna Zahra and Tove Ronneback added one goal each to cap off an emphatic team performance.

Mtarfa edge past Zero Sei

Swieqi United Survive Santa Margherita Scare
Swieqi United were pushed to their limits in a thrilling clash with Santa Margherita, narrowly emerging as 2-1 victors. Michela Felice was the hero for the Owls, scoring both goals to secure the win.
Swieqi opened the scoring in the first half through Felice, but Santa Margherita hit back early in the second half, with Edera Marmara finding the equaliser. However, Felice struck again to complete her brace and lift Swieqi to second place in the standings. Referees Stephen Vella and Danilo Francalanza officiated this tightly contested affair.
