Jacques Villeneuve is set to make his long awaited return to competitive racing, with the former Formula 1 world champion confirmed as a guest driver in this year’s Porsche Supercup series.
Villeneuve, now 55, has not raced competitively since a brief stint in the 2023 World Endurance Championship, where he drove in the hypercar class with the Floyd Vanwall Racing Team. He finished eighth on his debut at Sebring before retiring from the next two rounds at Portimão and Spa.
The Canadian has competed in almost every major racing series during his remarkable career, winning both the CART title and the Indy 500 in 1995, before going on to claim the Formula 1 world championship in 1997. However, this will be his first appearance in the Porsche Supercup.

His car will carry a special livery inspired by the iconic striped helmet designs he became famous for throughout his career, themselves based on his mother’s jumpers.
The Porsche Supercup is an eight race series that runs as a support event at Formula 1 grand prix weekends. This year’s campaign gets under way in Monaco in early June and wraps up at Monza in early September.
