Formula 1 championship leaders Mercedes have been granted permission for additional engine development under the FIA’s new performance-balancing system.
Mercedes can make an additional engine homologation this season and another in 2027.
Audi, Ferrari and Honda have been granted greater development opportunities, while Red Bull received none after its power unit was judged to be the benchmark.
Mercedes currently lead Ferrari by 87 points in the constructors’ championship after 12 rounds.
